Attending a fashion week always calls for prep. It’s a lot of pressure especially if you’re going to be strutting among the fashion elite. From your garb to your hair, you’ve got to ensure you look every bit the fashionista. But fashion weeks are experiments. You’ve got to pull out the fashion genius in you to dish out an attire that stands out among the dazzle.
Birdichand was the official jewellery partner for the Arch Attire at the Amazon India Fashion Week. The masterminds that they are, they helped me put together 5 different looks that went on to even redefine my own sense of style. Little did I know that my contemporary attire choice will find its match in the gold and diamond intricacies of Birdichand’s and Blue Turban range of jewellery.
Each day I tried on a look that broke my own stereotypes and challenged me to stand out. The finally crafted jewellery pieces I flaunted carefully blended with the art in my clothes. Never over powering, never undermining, Birdichand’s jewellery did what it does best – create a statement.
Day 1: The first day is all about creating the right impression. So naturally I had to step out in something bold. I chose this interesting pairing of a color coated crop top with lace sleeve detailing on a black floor length skirt. You may notice that the color in its solid form is the natural attention seeker. When your dress is certain to cause a stir, you need to ensure the jewerly doesn’t outdo it all. The red stone and diamond studded head band proved to be the perfect accompaniment. A matching wrist band ensured I carried the right amount of bling.
Day 2: The Vogue saree show was the most anticipated event at the fashion week since Birdhichand Jewellers was the official jewellery sponsor for the show. I couldn’t think of a better color other than black to be apt for the occasion. A cutwork crop top and laser cut trench coat, with a voluminous full length skirt was my choice. What I didn’t know was that I could pair this uber modern dressing with a very Indian choker. Studded with diamonds and adding the right amount of color to the otherwise dark attire, the choker pattern complimented the cut work on the dress and made my entree’ a very grandeur affair.
Day 3: The third day was all about drama. I layered and played with multiple colors and patterns . But what made it all work well was my statement pair of earrings from Birdhichand. Loaded with strands of beads and pearls this traditionalized my look while still retaining the contemporary nomad vibe.
Day 4: It was time to go big or go home. With my motifed trench in rustic brown I chose a chunky pair of earrings from Blueturban. The floral pearl studs on the earring matched well with the print I was wearing. Rust adding the royalty, the earrings were entrusted the role of adding further elegance. I finished the look with clean makeup and pulled back hair, ready to hit the ramp myself.
Day 5: The final day of the fashion week saw me flaunt multiple looks and colors that I hadn’t experimented with. From royal blues to subtle greys, I tried them all. I paired by color block knee length dress with statement gold earrings, a look that I was the most confident about. For another show I picked a grey kaftan with yellow prints and topped it off with subtle gold plated earrings and a statement wrist band. The wrist band made sure I kept the interest alive at every conversation I struck. I have always been a fan of rings that tell a story so I have more drama to strut other than my attire. I couldn’t think of a better jewellery piece than this gold cluster of rings. The ornate latkan style red bead detailing was almost like the right model chosen for the job. My final look for the day was marked complete with a combination of jewellery including a lotus motif silver choker, a sea horse detail silver bangle and a maang tikka which made me feel every bit a goddess.
Most of us are uncertain about the kind of jewellery we should be wearing if we choose an outfit ahead of our times. For a long time, artisans didn’t know how to create the right balance between modernity and tradition. Birdichand has mastered the art of decoding that difficult to find balance. With the finesse in its skill and the thought of the future, Birdichands artisans ensure they only churn out pieces of art. They give you all the confidence you need to not shy away from gold and instead opt for their artsy combinations with any and everything that you choose to wear.
I couldn’t have been a happier Brand Ambassador and an even luckier AIFW goer.
